4x4 RULES

1.0 Eligibility

 

a. All participants must be at least 18 years of age to compete

b. All participants vehicles must be four wheel drive at the start of race ,

except as specifically allowed in the vehicle classifications. Should your four

wheel drive fail to operate AFTER your first run, you may be allowed to

compete in your second race, PROVIDED, you can remove your vehicle from

the race track with out a tow.

c. All vehicles must have seat belts. Seat belts are to be worn at the time of

race.

d. All drivers must wear long pants and long shirt at time of race.

e. All drivers must wear an approved helmet at time of race

f. All pick up truck beds must be empty at time of the technical inspection and

during the event

g. All vehicles must display a competition number on the drivers side

h. entry fee - 25 dollars for your first class and 20 dollars for each additional

class

 

2.0 CONDUCT, DISQUALIFICATION, EJECTIONS, AND

SUSPENSION

 

a.

 

 

 

ANY DRIVER OR DRIVERS PIT CREW

CAUGHT DRINKING ANY ALCOHOLIC

BEVERAGES IN THE PIT AREA WILL BE

DISQUALIFIED AND SUSPENDED FOR THE

REST OF THE YEAR

 

 

 

b. All vehicles must be operated in a safe manner on quaboag riders club

grounds

c. Any tow vehicle such as a quad or four wheeler, the rider must have a helmet

on their head, any where on quaboag riders club grounds. NO EXCEPTIONS

d. No riders shall be allowed on or in any race vehicle when it is being towed or

raced or driven on anywhere on the quaboag riders club grounds

e. All participants at the quaboag riders events are expected to conduct

themselves in a professional and non-disruptive manner on quaboag riders club

grounds

f. Any participant that verbally or physically threatens any other participant,

fan or club official will be DISQUALIFIED or SUSPENDED for the rest of the

year

g. Any participant that engages in any unprofessional or un-sportsman like

conduct, detrimental to the sport of racing, or causes a deliberate delay of the

event, or otherwise creates a condition or circumstances that are unsafe, unfair or

out of order may be DISQUALIFIED or SUSPENDED

h. In the event of a disqualification NO REFUNDS WILL BE ALLOWED

I. The decision of the quaboag riders track officials shall be final and nonappealable.

However club officials may reverse or revise their decision

J. Calls of judgment are final ( ANY FOOTAGE OR WIN -LOSS

DECISIONS )

k. If a participant's vehicle is out of bounds or crosses into the opposing lane

and hampers with the other competitor's progress that participant is disqualified

3.0 RUNNING ORDER AND DRAW PROCEDURE

a. All participant 's competition running order position will be determined by

draw after tech inspection ALL PARTICIPANT'S MUST TECH BEFORE

SING UP TO BE PLACED IN THE PROPER CLASS

b. For each class entered the participant will draw one number to determine

their competition running position

c. The lowest number will be first in the running order for that class ( see

sample bracket sheet)

d. Any multiple entries with the same vehicle every opportunity will be

afforded so that vehicles will not run back to back. Quaboag riders officials will

make every effort so you do not have back to back runs

 

e. The running order will be

 

1. factory stock 4

2. factory stock 6

3. factory stock 8 ( the factory stock class may be combined.

see bump rule )

4. experimental A

5 . experimental B

6 . super stock

7. unlimited

8. modified / tuff truck

9. super unlimited

10. buggies

 

f. THE RUNNING ORDER MAY CHANGE AT THE DRIVERS MEETING.

THE CLUB OFFICIAL WILL LET YOU KNOW OF ANY CHANGE

g. Vehicles must stay in the same category as entered at sign up

 

4.0 ENTRY / WITHDRAWAL OF VEHICLE

 

a. Participants may enter any class in which the vehicle conforms to the rules

b. To scratch a vehicle from a race you must notify the quaboag rider

OFFICIAL in the pre-stage area (HOT PITS) at the bottom of the hill so the

OFFICIAL can call the tower ( DO NOT GO TO THE TOWER )

c. Once a vehicle is withdrawn from that class or race that vehicle may not reenter

that class or race for that session

 

5.0 APPAREL

 

a. All members of the participants crew must be properly attired when present

in the staging (hot pit ) area shoes are mandatory bare torsos, tank tops, or

muscle shirts are not acceptable

b. Helmets are required in all divisions for all drivers the helmet must be

D.O.T. approved

c. Protective eye wear required in the experimental A and above classes

windshield required in all factory stock ,super stock and modified classes

d. All drivers are to wear long pants and long sleeve shirt

e. ALL DRIVERS IN THE EXPERIMENTAL CLASS AND UP MUSTa

WEAR A FIRE SUIT, A TWO PIECE SUIT IS FINE AS LONG AS YOU

WEAR BOTH PIECES

f. All drivers must wear boots or race shoes

h. All over the top drivers must wear a fire proof head sock ( experimental

class)

I. The quaboag riders recommend that all drivers use full fire protection

 

6.0 STAGING , TIMING AND LIGHTS

 

a. Participants must be race ready in the pre stage area - hot pits ( THE

TERM RACE-READY MEANS THE PARTICIPANT WILL BE SUITED UP

,HELMET ON AND SECURED AND VEHICLE READY TO RACE )

b. It is the participants responsibility to present his or her vehicle to the

staging lanes in the proper running position and be ready to compete

c. Quaboag riders officials will not look for you in the pit area. It is your

responsibility to know when your class is going to compete ( THE QUABOAG

RIDERS WILL ANNOUNCE CLASS TO LINE UP ON THE QRMC RADIO

NETWORK 103.9 FM and over the P.A system ) The running order will be

posted at the entrance to the hot pits

d. The Quaboag riders uses the port o' tree system. If in the event we have a

tree failure, the QRMC will used the arm drop method. The Quaboag riders will

explain how the tree works during the drivers meeting

e. All participants must be ready to compete within 3 minutes after being

signaled by the Quaboag riders staging officials. Failure to stage upon starter's

instructions is possible grounds for disqualification

f. No vehicle shall approach the starting line until the starter signals the driver. Failure to follow this rule will result in a disqualification

g. Once a vehicle reaches the starting line the driver must be prepared to

race. A reasonable amount of time will be permitted to stage

 

HOWEVER, IF THE PARTICIPANT MAKES AN EFFORT TO

COMPETE , EVERY OPPORTUNITY WILL BE OFFERED TO THEM TO

MAKE THEIR COMPETITION APPEARANCE ( EXAMPLE ; COOL

DOWN TIME )

 

7.0 LANE CHOICE

 

a. when the bracket sheet is posted the driver with his/her name appearing first

in the running order will have lane choice for your first race. A quaboag riders

official will put you in your lane after that race

 

8.0 DRAG RACE ELIMINATION

 

a. Bye runs will be used to even brackets, there are no fast losers

b. All bye-run vehicles must stage and break the light at the end of coarse

c. competitors must be race ready when called to the line

d. when called to the line ,the competitor will have three minutes to comply,

over run on the three minute rule could result in a disqualification

e. in the event that a competitor is unable to compete see hot pit official

f. Win will be determined by the light on the timing tree. In the event of a tree

failure the race out come will be determined by a quaboag riders official

g. Each division will be run straight through, rather than in rounds. Winner

should be ready for a immediate re-run. In the larger classes (experimental )

cool down time will be given

h. All winners must stay in the hot pit area, if you leave the hot pit area you

will be disqualified

I. all loosers go to the pits

9.0 OVER THE TOP

 

a. vehicles are racing for time best time in their class out of two passes. The

best time out of the two will be used

b. any vehicle meeting the minimum safety requirements may compete

 

 

 

IF YOUR VEHICLE GETS STUCK ON THE TOP OF

THE HILL, DIG IN BRING ENGINE TO AN IDLE, AND

RAISE HANDS, THIS IS TO LET OUR HILL

WORKERS KNOW IT IS SAFE TO APPROACH YOUR

VEHICLE TO HOOK UP THE TOW CABLE. AFTER

YOU ARE HOOKED UP OUR HILL WORKER WILL

DIRECT YOU WHILE BEING TOWED

NO ROOSTER TAILING OR SPINNING OF TIRES AT

THE TOP OF THE HILL

 

 

 

10.0 All over the top competition vehicles must meet the

following requirements

 

1. ROLLCAGES

 

all rollcages must consist of 1' 3/4 .120 wall tubing or compatible material

roll cage will be perimeter style ,fully compassing the drivers compartment.

all rollcages

will have at least one door bar per side and be of welded construction all rollcages will

be securely anchored to the frame , NOT THE FLOOR all rollcages will be

of the minimum of six mounting points ,all open body vehicles will have a plate

welded to the top of the cage

 

2. SEAT AND SEAT BELTS

 

any suitable racing seat with a minimum of four 5/16 bolts bolted to the

vehicle securely seat belt must be a race type harness with a minimum of four

points of contact to your body and not be tied or in any disrepair ripped torn or

ragged harnesses will not be allowed (all seats and harnesses must be in good

condition )

 

3. FLOORS/ FIREWALL

 

all vehicles are required to have full floors and a fire wall in the drivers

compartment

floor must be made of a minimum of 16 gage steel or suitable material and

should fully

encompass the drivers compartment from the engine compartment

 

4. ELECTRICAL

 

battery will not be mounted in the drivers compartment

battery will be mounted securely inside a marine type battery box

all vehicles must have a MASTER KILL SWITCH that kills all power

to all of the electrical systems

 

5. FUEL SYSTEMS

 

all vehicles are required to have a fuel cell for over the top

all fuel lines must be routed as far from the driver as possible

all fuel lines must be constructed of suitable material

vehicles with an electric type fuel pump are required to have a working fuel

pump "kill switch"

vehicles running nitrous oxide must have a 1/4 turn valve accessible to the

driver and safety crew

and must be clearly marked

type of fuel must be marked on all vehicles

tech. inspector will provide a sticker at inspection

all stickers will be 2" x 2"

green sticker with "G" gasoline

red sticker with "A" alcohol

yellow sticker with "N" nitrous oxide

 

6. FIRE EXTINGUISHER

 

all vehicles must have a working fire extinguisher with in the drivers reach

a fire suppression system is strongly recommended and should be mounted

securely and easily accessible and with in the drivers reach

 

7. DRIVE LINE

 

all vehicles must have a minimum of two drive shaft catch loops per drive

shaft

all vehicles must have a steel bell housing or fly wheel shield for manual

transmissions

and a approved safety blanket or shield this rule does not apply to the buggy

class

 

8. BRAKE SYSTEM

 

all vehicles in competition are required to have a split braking system

where the front and rear brakes work independently from each other

all vehicles must have a complete braking system in working order at

all times that will bring the vehicle to a safe reasonable stop

 

9. THROTTLE LINKAGE

 

all throttle linkage to be securely fastened and will operate bind free

with a minimum of two return springs

carburetor required to fully close with return springs

 

10. TOW HOOKS

 

every vehicle is required to have a tow hook mounted in clear sight and

clearly marked . your vehicles tow hook will be fastened and capable of

supporting the entire weight of the vehicle. Every vehicle is required to go

through a technical inspection BEFORE any competition

 

11.0 BUMP RULE

 

a. CLASS BUMP, any class with three vehicles or less will be bumped to the next highest class or division. In the event of a class bump, it will be to the

discretion of the Quaboag riders officials to handicap said, competitor

 

b. VEHICLE BUMP, any vehicle not meeting the requirements of a class or

division will be bumped up to the appropriate class or division

c. Under no circumstances will any vehicle be bumped down classes or

divisions it is the drivers / owners responsibility that the vehicle meets the

specifications and requirements of the class or division the vehicle is built to

compete in

 

12.0 VEHICLE CLASSIFICATION

 

1.0 BUGGIES

 

a. your buggy must be a true buggy

b. any type of buggy

c. must pass tech

d. must meet minimum requirements listed in the over the top section

e. buggies are NOT required to have 4 wheel drive

f. the bump rule will not apply

 

2.0 FACTORY STOCK

 

vehicles in the factory stock must meet the following requirements

a. vehicles must be pure stock, as it was manufactured at the factory

b. absolutely no modifications of any type allowed

c. vehicles should be registered. dealers, repair or temporary plates are allowed

 

 

 

THE QUABOAG RIDERS TECH OFFICIAL WILL PLACE YOUR

VEHICLE IN THE PROPER CLASS OR DIVISION

 

 

 

d. no cut tires

e. no tires larger than 12.50 / 33"

f. must be willing to drive on nearest state paved road

g. factory stock division will be broken into three categories, 4 cylinder, 6

cylinder, and 8 cylinder

h. the bump rule will apply

 

3.0 SUPER STOCK

 

vehicles in the super stock must meet the following requirements

a. vehicles must be currently registered

b. vehicles must be currently inspected and street legal

c. any street legal modifications allowed

d. vehicle must have the stock engine block for that year , make and model

e. vehicles must have operating lights

f. D.O.T. approved tires only

g. no cut tires

h. no tires larger than 40"

I. must have closed exhaust

j. must have a suitable rear body (flat or stock bed)

k. no aftermarket aluminum heads allowed

l. must be willing to drive on nearest state paved road

m. super stock will be broken into two classes, 6 cylinder, and 8 cylinder

n. the bump rule will apply

4.0 MODIFIED / TUFF TRUCK

 

vehicles in the modified / tuff truck class must meet the following

requirements, OR meet the specifications for Tuff trucks from Southwick

Motocross

a. vehicles must have a stock appearing body

b. vehicles must have a stock frame with no frame modifications

c. no excessive cutting of frame or body allowed

d. vehicles must have full fire wall and floor

e. modified factory engines only, engine block must be an original factory

option for year, make and model of vehicle

f. engine must be normally aspirated with a single four barrel carburetor (max)

g. headers and open exhaust are allowed

h. vehicles must have suspension in the stock location

I. aftermarket shocks and suspension kits are allowed

j paddle tires only no scoop tires

k. vehicles must run on gas only

The modified /tuff truck division will be broken into two classes, 6 cylinder,

and 8 cylinder some modified/ tuff trucks might be able to go over the top, if

you meet the minimum requirements. see over the top

 

5.0 EXPERIMENTAL SMALL BLOCK

 

a. all experimental classes must meet the minimum requirements listed in the

over the top section

b. square tube chassis are allowed

c. any type of suspension may be used

d. vehicle must have a stock appearing body which may be made of any suitable

material

e. engine must be a small block, any modifications are allowed

f. single 4 barrel carburetor max, must be normally aspirated.

 

NO DOMINATOR STYLE CARBS ALLOWED

 

g. must run on gas

h. NO NITROUS OXIDE

I. any type of tire may be used

j. the bump rule will apply

 

6.0 EXPERIMENTAL BIG BLOCK

 

a. All experimental classes must meet the minimum requirements listed in the

over the top section

b. square tube chassis are allowed

c. any type of suspension may be used

d. any engine with any modifications

e. carburetor must be normally aspirated. ANY STYLE CARB ALLOWED

f. NO NITROUS OXIDE IS ALLOWED - GAS ONLY NO INJECTORS

g. any type of tire may be used

h. the bump rule will apply

 

7.0 UNLIMITED

 

a. all unlimited classes must meet the minimum requirements listed in the over

the top section

b. any type of frame

c. any type of body

d. any type of suspension

e. any type of engine with any modifications

f. INJECTORS ALLOWED - NO BLOWERS

g. any type of fuel

h. NITROUS OXIDE IS ALLOWED

THE BUMP RULE WILL APPLY

 

8.0 SUPER UNLIMITED

 

a. all UNLIMITED classes must meet the minimum requirements listed in the

over the top section

b. any type of frame

c. any type of body

d. any type of suspension

e. any type of engine with any modifications

f. blowers are allowed

g. any type of fuel

h. NITROUS OXIDE IS ALLOWED

i. THE BUMP RULE WILL NOT APPLY

 

 

 

ALL VEHICLES THAT RUN IN THE NITROUS OXIDE CLASS

WHO WISH TO RUN A NON-NITROUS OXIDE CLASS MUST

EITHER REMOVE THE BOTTLE OR THE SUPPLY HOSE TO

THE BOTTLE TO DISABLE THE FLOW OF NITROUS OXIDE TO

THE ENGINE PRIOR TO STAGING
