       Quaboag Riders 4X4 Rules of Competition                                                                              

 

                   Section 1: Vehicle Classification:  

It is the competitor’s responsibility to properly classify his or her vehicle for competition. Failure to properly classify the vehicle could result in disqualification.

                  Section 2: Drag Race Qualifications:

A.  Factory Stock

     Vehicles in factory stock must meet the following requirements:

1.Vehicles must be pure stock, as it was manufactured at the factory.

2.Absolutely no modifications of any type allowed.

3.Vehicles don’t have to be registered.

4.No cut tires and no tires larger than 12.50/33”.

5.Factory Stock division will be broken into two categories (4-6 cylinder and 8 cylinder).

6.The Bump Rule will apply.

 

B. Super Stock

      Vehicles in Super Stock must meet the following requirements:

1.Vehicle must have stock engine block for that year, make, and model.

2.Any street legal modifications are allowed. Lift kits allowed.

3.Must have operating lights (headlights, taillights, stoplights etc).

4.D.O.T. approved tires only. No cut tires. Tires limited to 40”.

5.Must run closed exhaust. Headers allowed.

6.Must have a suitable rear body {flatbed or stock bed}

7.The Bump Rule will apply.

 

B.1 Open 6 cylinder

Vehicles in Open 6 cylinder must meet the following requirements:

1.Vehicle must be 6 cylinder stock type vehicle with power adders/turbos/nitrous.

 

 

 

C. Modified {Tuff Truck}

     Vehicles in Modified must meet the following requirements:

1.Vehicles must have a stock appearing body and stock frame.

2.Fiberglass hoods/noses will be allowed. (SEE NOTE 1)

3.No Excessive Cutting or lightening of body or frame allowed.

4.Vehicles must have full floors and firewall.

5.Modified factory engines only, engine must be original or factory option.

6.Engine must be normally aspirated with a single 4-barrel carburetor (Max).

7.Headers or open exhausts are allowed.

8.Vehicles must have stock suspension mounted in the stock location, stock style suspension kits are allowed.

9.Aftermarket shocks may be used but must be mounted in the stock location.

10.Any size paddle or cut tires only, NO SCOOP TIRES.

11.Vehicles must run on gas only.

12.NO NITROUS OXIDE.

13.The Bump Rule will apply.

The Modified division will be broken into two categories: (6 and 8 cylinders)

***NOTE 1: FULL FIBERGLASS BODIES MAY BE RUN ON VEHICLES CURRENTLY LEGALLY REGISTERED, STATE INSPECTED AND INSURED.

***ALL EXPERIMENTAL A AND ABOVE CLASSES MUST ADHERE TO THE SAFETY RULES IN SECTION 5.

D. EXPERIMENTAL “A”  

     Vehicles in Experimental “A” must meet the following requirements:

1.Square tube chassis allowed.

2.Any type of suspension may be used.

3.Vehicles must have a stock appearing body, which may be constructed with any suitable material.  

4.Engine must be a small block type, modifications allowed.

5.Engine must be normally aspirated with a single 4-barrel carburetor {Max}. Dominator Carburetors are not allowed.

6.Must run on gas.

7.Any type tire may be used.

8.NO NITROUS OXIDE.

9.The Bump Rule will apply.

E. Experimental “B”

     Vehicles in Experimental “B” must meet the following requirements:

1.Square tube chassis allowed.

2.Any type of suspension may be used.

3.Vehicles must have a stock appearing body, which may be constructed with any suitable material, full floors, and a firewall.

4.Engine may be a small or big block type, modifications allowed, must be normally aspirated {unless factory equipped}

5.Must run on gas or alcohol.

6.Any type tire may be used.

7.The Bump Rule will apply.

8.NITROUS OXIDE IS ALLOWED.

***NOTE: VEHICLES THAT RUN IN THE NITROUS OXIDE CLASS WHO WISH TO RUN IN THE NON-NITROUS OXIDE DIVISION MUST EITHER REMOVE THE BOTTLE OR SUPPLY HOSE FROM THE VEHICLE THUS DISABLING THE FLOW OF NITROUS OXIDE TO THE ENGINE PRIOR TO STAGING.

F. UNLIMITED  

     Vehicles running in the Unlimited class must meet the following requirements:

1.Any type of body, on any type of frame.

2.Any engine may be used.

3.Any fuel may be used.

4.Any type of tire may be used.

5.Must be normally aspirated {unless factory equipped} NO BLOWERS.

6.NITROUS OXIDE IS ALLOWED

G. SUPER UNLIMITED  

    Vehicles running Super Unlimited must meet the following requirements:

1.Any body style on any frame.

2.Any engine, any modifications, may run on any type of fuel.

3.Any type of tire may be used.

4.NITROUS OXIDE IS ALLOWED.

5.Bump Rule does not apply.

 

H. BUGGIES  

     Vehicles running in the Buggy class must meet these requirements:

1.Vehicles must be a Buggy.

2.The Bump Rule will apply.

***The Buggies will be broken down into two categories:

Buggy “A” Uncut D.O.T. type tires        

Buggy “B” Any type tire.

*** NOTE: ALL VEHICLES IN ALL CLASSES MUST BE FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE AND THE FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE MUST BE ENGAGED AND OPERATIONAL AT ALL TIMES. THIS RULE DOES NOT APPLY TO THE BUGGY CLASS.

*** NOTE: IN ADDITION TO THE PRECEEDING CLASSIFICATIONS, VEHICLES MUST MEET THE SAFETY REQUIREMENTS DETAILED IN SECTION 5.  

 

                                           SECTION 3 BUMP RULE

A.CLASS BUMP: Any class with three vehicles or less will be bumped to the next highest class or division. IN THE EVENT OF A CLASS BUMP, IT WILL BE LEFT TO THE DISCRETION OF THE OFFICIALS TO HANDICAP SAID COMPETITOR OR NOT.

B.VEHICLE BUMP: Any vehicle not meeting the requirements of a class or division will be bumped up to the appropriate class or division.  

*** Under no circumstances will any vehicle be bumped down classes or divisions. It is the driver’s/owner’s responsibility that the vehicle meets the specifications and requirements of the class or division the vehicle is built to compete in.

C. BUMP RULE REVISION: The Quaboag Riders reserve the right to change the Bump Rule at any time, for any reason, and without notice.

                                        SECTION 4 OVER THE TOP HILLCLIMB CLASSIFICATIONS  

The Over the Top Hillclimb event is open to any vehicle {Stock and Super Stock Excluded- See Note} that fulfills the safety requirements outlined in SECTION 5.

A. NON NITROUS  

1.Any vehicle, normally aspirated, must run on gas.

2.Any Tires.

3.NO NITROUS OXIDE ALLOWED.

4.NO BUGGIES.

B. NITROUS

1.Any vehicles

2.Any Tires.

3.Any type of fuel.

4.NITROUS OXIDE ALLOWED.

5.NO BUGGIES.

C. BUGGIES

1. Any type of Buggy

***NOTE: THE STOCK AND SUPER STOCK CLASSES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE OVER THE TOP HILLCLIMB COMPETITION DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS.

 

***NOTE: VEHICLES THAT RUN IN THE NITROUS OXIDE CLASS WHO WISH TO

RUN IN THE NON-NITROUS OXIDE DIVISION MUST EITHER REMOVE THE BOTTLE OR SUPPLY HOSE FROM THE VEHICLE THUS DISABLING THE FLOW OF THE NITROUS OXIDE TO THE ENGINE PRIOR TO STAGING.

 

                     SECTION 5 RULES AND SAFETY EQUIPMENT

A.Roll Cages: All vehicles in Experimental and above are required to have a roll cage. They should consist of 1 ¾” .120 wall tubing, or compatible material. Roll cage will be perimeter style, fully compassing the driver’s compartment. There should be a minimum of one door bar per side and be welded construction. Roll cage should be securely anchored to the frame, NOT FLOOR, with a minimum of six mounting points. All open body vehicles must have a plate welded to the top of the cage.

B.SEAT BELT AND SAFETY HARNESS: Racing seats and safety harnesses are strongly recommended. THEY ARE MANDATORY IN EXPERIMENTAL A CLASS AND UP. Seat should be attached to suitable mounts, with a minimum of 4 5/16” bolts. Safety harness (minimum of four points) to be bolted into vehicle securely. RAGGED SEAT HARNESSES OR TIED SEATS OR HARNESSES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED. All seats and harnesses must be in good condition.

C.FLOORS/FIREWALL: All vehicles are required to have full floors and firewall in driver’s compartment. Floor must be constructed of 16 gage steel or suitable material and should fully encompass the driver’s compartment. Firewall should separate the driver’s compartment from engine, and should be constructed of suitable material.

D.ELECTRICAL: Battery will not be mounted in driver’s compartment or within a roll cage of any vehicle. Battery must be securely mounted and inside a marine type battery box. All vehicles must have a master “kill switch” for the electrical system that shuts off ALL power to the vehicle. Switch should be clearly marked and easily accessible.

E.FUEL SYSTEM: Vehicle are required to have an approved fuel tank. FUEL CELLS ARE REQUIRED FOR EXPERIMENTAL A AND UP. All fuel lines must be routed as far from driver as possible. All fuel lines must be constructed of a suitable material. Vehicles with an electric type fuel pump are required to have a working fuel pump “kill switch”. SYSTEM TO BE LEAK FREE. Vehicles running nitrous oxide must have a ¼ turn valve accessible to the driver and the safety crew, and must be clearly marked. TYPE OF FUEL MUST BE MARKED ON ALL VEHICLES. TECH INSPECTOR WILL PROVIDE A STICKER AT INSPECTION. ALL STICKERS WILL BE 2”X2”

GREEN STICKER WITH “G” GASOLINE

RED STICKER WITH “A” ALCOHOL

YELLOW STICKER WITH “N” NITROUS OXIDE

F.FIRE EXTINGUISHER: All vehicles must have a working fire extinguisher or fire suppression system on board. All must be mounted securely, easily accessible, and within driver’s reach.

G.DRIVELINE: All vehicles with lift kits and/or 35” tires must have driveshaft catch loops  

[two per shaft}. Vehicles in the modified class and above must have steel bell housing or flywheel shield for manual transmissions and an approved safety blanket or shield if equipped with an automatic transmission. This rule does not apply to the buggy class.

ALL VEHICLES IN ALL CLASSES MUST BE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE AND THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE MUST BE ENGAGED AND OPERATIONAL AT ALL TIMES. THIS RULE DOES NOT APPLY TO THE BUGGY CLASS.

H.BRAKE SYSTEM: All vehicles in competition are required to have a split braking system, where the front and rear brakes work independently of each other. All vehicles must have a complete braking system in working order at all times. Brake system will stop movement of all four wheels, and bring the vehicle to a safe and reasonable stop.

I.THROTTLE LINKAGE: Throttle linkage to be securely fastened and will operate bind free through the entire length of travel. Two return springs/carburetor required to fully close throttle in case of linkage failure.

J.TOW HOOKS: Every vehicle is required to have a tow hook mounted in clear sight and clearly marked. Hook will be securely fastened and capable of supporting the entire weight of the vehicle.

K.INSPECTION: All vehicles must proceed through inspection prior to signing in. All vehicles are subject to inspection at any time by race officials or personnel. All vehicles must pass every aspect of technical Inspection.

L.FACTORY STOCK: All safety equipment must be intact. NO LOOSE ARTICLES. Any loose articles in vehicle can result in your disqualification.

M.REVISIONS: Quaboag Riders Officials reserve the right to change and modify the rules at any time, for any reason, and without notice.

                                                     SECTION 6 DRIVER’S SAFETY  

ALL DRIVERS IN COMPETITION ARE REQUIRED TO FOLLOW THESE SAFETY RULES.

1.Helmets must be worn. All helmets must be in suitable overall condition.

2.Long sleeve shirt, or jacket must be worn.

3.Long heavyweight pants must be worn.

4.Protective eyewear required.

5.Work boots or fireproof racing type shoes to be worn. NO SNEAKERS OR ATHLETIC TYPE SHOES ALLOWED.

6.Drivers competing in the Experimental and above classes are required to wear fire suits{full length suits} NOT JUST JACKETS.

***With safety being the main concern, it is strongly recommended that all driver’s wear fire-proof clothing, fire suit, gloves and shoes.

***NOTE: THESE REVISIONS HAVE BEEN MADE TO ASSURE THAT COMPETITION

IS AS EVEN AS POSSIBLE AND FAIR TO EVERYONE. THE QUABOAG RIDERS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO ALTER OR CHANGE ANY RULE, AT ANY TIME, AND WITHOUT NOTICE.

                                                     Section 7 Competition

All competitors are required to follow the rules of competition.

1.It is the driver’s responsibility to view the pit board to know when their class is to run. (The vehicle order, class, and vehicle numbers / letters will be posted in running order.)

2.Competitors must remain near their vehicles and race-ready when their vehicle is called.

3.NO SPEEDING OR HOT DOGGING ALLOWED IN THE PITS. THIS WILL RESULT IN AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION.

***NOTE: THE TERM “RACE–READY” MEANS: THE DRIVER WILL BE SUITED UP,

HELMET ON AND SECURED AND THE VEHICLE READY TO RACE. Quaboag Rider

Officials WILL NOT search for competitors not race-ready when called. YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. The 10 minute rule does not apply to drivers not ready when called. Competitors running out of sequence will be DISQUALIFIED- unless instructed to do so by a Quaboag Rider Official.

A. DRAG RACES

1. Bye runs will be used to even brackets, there is NO FAST LOSER.

3.Competitors must be RACE-READY when called to the line. {See note above.}

4.When called to the line, the competitor will have three minutes to comply-overrun on times will result in DISQUALIFICATION.

5.NO STAGING GAMES, competitors will stage vehicles in a timely manner. Any driver found to be staging for a competition advantage will be DISQUALIFIED.

6.In the event that a competitor is unable to stage because of a mechanical failure, they should notify a Quaboag Rider Official to allow the competitor to compete.

7.Win will be determined by the light on the timing tree, in the event of a light failure, race outcome will be determined by Quaboag Rider Official.

8.Each division will be run straight through, rather than in rounds. Winner will be ready for immediate re-run.

9.If both drivers red light, the first driver to red light will be disqualified and the other driver automatically wins the round. The winning driver does not need to make a full pass.

10.The first driver to go out of bounds or cross the center line will be automatically disqualified.

11.If your truck makes the finals, drivers must stage their vehicle in order to place.

*** Winners will NOT return to the pits between runs. They MUST remain in the

“Hot Pits” until they are defeated, or if undefeated, the end of that class. NO EXCEPTIONS-YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.

*** In addition to published rules the following will apply. Passing over the centerline or going out of bounds will result in a DISQUALIFICATION.

Over the Top HillClimb

1.First run time is used for scoring. In the event of more than one run, the best of both will be used instead.

2.Starter will give competitors a signal as to when the track is clear.

3.Vehicles must make a full pass to be qualified for award (must receive a time by breaking the electric “beam” at the top of the hill).

***NOTE: IF THE VEHICLE GETS STUCK ON THE HILL, DIG IN, BRING ENGINE TO

AN IDLE AND RAISE HANDS. THIS WILL LET THE HILL WORKERS KNOW THAT IT IS SAFE TO APPROUCH THE VEHICLE. ONCE THE TOW CABLE IS HOOKED, HILL WORKERS WILL DIRECT DRIVER WHILE BEING TOWED.

***NOTE: NO ”ROOSTER TAILING” OR SPINNING OF TIRES AT THE TOP OF THE

HILL.

 

 

 

 

RESPECT YOUR HILL WORKERS-YOUR LIFE COULD BE IN THEIR HANDS!!!!! THE

USE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OR ILLEGAL DRUGS BY ANY DRIVER OR PIT

CREW MEMBER WILL NOT BE TOLERATED WHILE ENGAGED IN THE RACING PROGRAM OF THE QUABOAG RIDERS INC. CUNSUMPTION OF SAME MEANS DISQUALIFICATION FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR. NO EXCEPTIONS!!
